How long is a whitening session?
Your whitening treatment includes two back-to-back 15-minute whitening sessions. Please allow approximately 60 minutes from start to finish for your full appointment, including setup, consultation, treatment, and aftercare instructions.
Will I experience sensitivity?
Our whitening gel is formulated with sensitivity in mind, and many clients experience little to no sensitivity. However, sensitivity varies from person to person, and temporary tooth or gum sensitivity can occur following whitening.
Can I whiten my teeth if I am pregnant?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend consulting with your physician or dentist before having your teeth whitened.
What is the minimum age for teeth whitening?
Clients under 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian before receiving a professional teeth whitening treatment.
Can I whiten my teeth if I have gingivitis or periodontal disease?
If you have gingivitis, periodontal disease, or other active dental or oral health concerns, please consult with your dentist before scheduling a whitening treatment.
Should I have a dental cleaning before whitening?
For best results, we recommend being current with your routine dental cleanings. Plaque and buildup on the teeth can affect how evenly and effectively whitening products reach the tooth surface.
A recent cleaning is not required to book, but whitening results vary depending on your starting shade, staining, buildup, and overall condition of your teeth.
Can I whiten if I have crowns, caps, or veneers?
Whitening gel does not change the original shade of crowns, veneers, or other dental restorations. It may help remove some surface staining, but your natural teeth may whiten differently than existing dental work.
If you have visible restorations, especially on your front teeth, we recommend discussing whitening with your dentist if you're concerned about achieving an even final shade.
What if I have bonding on my teeth?
Dental bonding will not whiten beyond its original shade. Whitening may help remove some surface staining, but your natural teeth may become lighter than the bonded areas.
If you have bonding on visible teeth, keep this in mind when choosing your desired whitening result.
What if I have canker sores or open sores in my mouth?
We recommend waiting until any canker sores, cuts, irritation, or other open areas in the mouth have completely healed before whitening. Whitening gel may cause additional irritation or discomfort when oral tissue is already sensitive.
BEFORE YOUR WHITENING TREATMENT
Be prepared for your treatment the best that you can!
Eating
Please eat before your whitening appointment. After your treatment, we recommend waiting approximately one hour before eating or drinking anything other than water.
Dental Cleaning
For best results, we recommend being current with your routine dental cleanings. Plaque and buildup can affect your whitening results, so a recent professional cleaning can help you get the most from your treatment.
Oral Piercings
Please remove any removable lip, tongue, or other oral piercings before your whitening treatment.
Sores, Cuts & Irritation
Please wait to whiten if you have any canker sores, cuts, open sores, or significant irritation in or around your mouth. Whitening products may cause additional discomfort when these areas are already sensitive.
Post Care Treatment
Now that your smile is brighter, let's keep it that way!
First Hour
Drink only water and avoid eating for one hour after your whitening treatment.
First 24 Hours
For the first 24 hours after whitening, avoid foods and drinks that are likely to stain your teeth. This includes coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas, berries, tomato-based sauces, beets, and other highly pigmented foods.
Tip: If it would stain a white shirt, it's best to avoid it during your first 24 hours!
White Spots on Teeth
You may temporarily notice lighter or white areas on your teeth immediately after whitening. These areas often become less noticeable as your teeth rehydrate and the color settles following treatment.
White Spots or Irritation on Gums
Temporary whitening or irritation of the gums can occasionally occur if whitening gel comes into contact with the gum tissue. This typically improves on its own. If irritation is significant or does not resolve, contact your dentist.
Sensitivity
Some clients may experience temporary tooth or gum sensitivity after whitening. If needed, use a toothpaste formulated for sensitive teeth and avoid extremely hot or cold foods and drinks until the sensitivity subsides. If sensitivity is severe or persistent, contact your dentist.
Touch-Up Treatments
Want to refresh your results? Touch-up treatments are available after your initial whitening session. We recommend scheduling your touch-up within 60 days to use your remaining whitening gel and maintain your brighter smile.
